‘Start With The Badge And Build Outward,’ BMW Announces All Base Models Now Start At $500

BMW has just announced that its entire line of motorcycles will now start at a remarkable $500 MSRP.

“This move has been a long time coming,” said Markus Flasch, president of BMW Motorrad. “For years, we’ve been citing base model prices, yet nobody has ever seen a functional base-model BMW on the road. So we figured, why stop at just several thousand under the real price? Why not take our imaginary bikes all the way down to $500?”

Starting early next year, all BMW models will have a base MSRP of just $500. This gets you the BMW badge… and nothing else.

“We’re very proud of the fact that we’ve managed to get our badge down to just $500,” Markus said. “Historically, it has been far more than that, but we really wanted to make BMW motorcycles accessible to more people.”

Once the badge is purchased, BMW offers thousands of packages designed to allow the buyer to customize a fully-functional motorcycle to their liking – pricing ranges from anywhere between $5,200 for the G 310 R package to well over $30,000 for certain M packages.

Previous BMW packages, such as the “Sport package” or “Comfort Package,” will now be referred to as micropackages to help owners transition.

“BMW owners are world-famous for waving their micropackages in everyone’s faces, so we wanted to be sure to carry those over as well… for an additional cost.”
